I did this for my friend last year who asked if I could draw something simple on her mandolin, so of course, I spent forever and a day coming up with a design and figuring out how exactly I was going to transfer my pencil drawing to the instrument. I ended up using tracing paper. Yeah, I know, I was surprised it worked, too. There’s probably a simpler way to do it, but I have no idea what that is, so. Over the pencil, I used Prismacolor’s metallic silver marker. I really should use a fixative over it because it’s quite sensitive, but I don’t know what would be safe to use over the wood? Must research that…a year later. :3
